ALAIN PROST
Alain Prost's 51 race wins stood as a record until Michael Schumacher hit his relentless peak. But arguably his best race wasn't even one he won. The French maestro was running second on lap two of the FORMULA 1 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX 1987 when he suffered a left-rear puncture that, once sorted, left him two laps down. Affronted, Prost made up one of those laps by the chequered flag to finish seventh, with a fastest tour 1.7 seconds quicker than anyone else's.
